Our Diploma of Work Health & Safety qualification is suitable for people who coordinate and maintain the Work Health and Safety (WHS) program in an organisation. It reflects the role of practitioners who apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts.
This qualification or specific units of competency may satisfy some requirements for WHS skilled and practising advisors. Persons seeking certification should check the requirements with certifying bodies.
Work Health & Safety Officer;
Work Health & Safety Program Coordinator; or
Supervisor with WHS responsibilities.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, prior to enrolment students are required to provide their Unique Student Identifier, photo identification and meet the language, literacy, and numeracy requirements.
Upon successfully completing this qualification, participants will have the knowledge and skills to:
Administer various work health and safety functions, planning and policy/process development in the workplace to ensuresafe practices;
Recognise, evaluate and manage health and safety hazards inthe workplace;
Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organisation to ensure compliancy;
Develop actions, and measures to prevent re-occurrences ofincidents;
Can identify WHS breaches and implement strategies for change;
Gather and analyse relevant WHS information and data; and
Contribute to the implementation, review and improvement of the WHS plan and management system.
PATHWAYS INTO A DIPLOMA OF WHS
Preferred pathways for candidates entering this qualification include:
BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or other relevant qualifications OR extensive vocational experience in work health and safety roles without a formal qualification.
PATHWAYS FROM A DIPLOMA OF WHS
BSB60615 Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety.
The course is delivered at venues throughout Queensland. The program requires face to face attendance, project work and both theory and practical activities and assessments. Participants have up to 12 months to complete all required work.
